Analogue Echo is pleased to announce our service upgrades, which will include
increased webspace and bandwidth for all domains hosted on our systems. Some
other enhancements include enhancements to our e-mail systems, complete with user
configurable forwarding and spam control functions.
July 19, 2002
As you may already know, Analogue Echo's services were interrupted on
July 18, 2002 from approximately 2:30 AM until 5:30 PM.
Due to a lack of communication from Analogue Echo's upstream provider,
the IP addresses (addresses used by computers to locate each other
across the Internet) of our nameservers were changed. As these new
addresses were not associated with Analogue Echo's servers there was no
way for other computers to locate our hosted websites or deliver e-mail.
At 5:30 PM on July 18 the Analogue Echo nameserver information was
updated, though these updates can take some time to propagate across
the Internet so there may have been a delay between the update and when
your website became accessible. If your site and services have not
been restored by now, please contact Analogue Echo either by e-mail at
info@anecho.mb.ca or phone (204) 475-0007.
January 27, 2002
In continuing to upgrade our network to meet the needs of our customers
there will now be "dedicated" addresses specifically for our customers
that do not have domain names. All other services and users will not be affected.
If you website currently resides at at an address such as http://www.anecho.mb.ca/~myname
it will soon have a new home of http://members.anecho.mb.ca/~myname (note the "members" portion).
These new addresses are active immediately, but there will be a transition time where
the old addresses will still work. Following this, for a short time a "forwarder"
service will be in place to redirect browsers. To make the change-over as seamless as
possible it is recommended that any information referring to the old address be updated.
Please note that this change-over will not affect your e-mail address.
January 15, 2002
As a note to all of our customers who used to be on the @home network,
please ensure that you have
updated your forwarding e-mail addresses.
Even though the @Home network (for all intents and purposes) no longer exists, e-mail
messages sent or forwarded to the @Home addresses will not get returned as undeliverable.
In events such as this, the sender will not know that the message has not gone through, nor
will you realise that you have missed messages.
December 14, 2001
Our network upgrade has now been successfully completed.
You may notice a temporary outage of services which are a result of our nameservers
having changed internet addresses.
To ensure an easy transaction of domain names hosted by Analogue Echo (which Analogue Echo
is not authoritative for), please ensure that the nameservers listed in your record are:
- ns.anecho.mb.ca
- ns2.anecho.mb.ca
At least one of these nameservers must be listed in your domain record or your site will
not be accessible.
For .com or .net domains, you may check the
WHOIS here to see which nameservers
you have listed.
For .ca addresses you may check the CIRA WHOIS (in the upper-right corner).
Any comments, additions, or suggestions? Please feel free to drop
us a line at
